Your points are well taken and you will note that I did mention the Holiday weekend affected the lack of postings...

Yet, I do like to mention items that are factual. The following is factual. SI is a high quality discussion site and will most likely continue to be. But, please review the following point in an objective manner.

You state that SI has enjoyed over 120,000 postings since the 12,000,000 back on November 19, 1999. True, yet this number of 120,000 postings in 8 days can be prorated to be approximately 460,000 per month. Please note that this is down significantly from the Go2net June press release stating 600,000 postings per month. See link.

go2net.com

Also, you will note that the lower posting rate of late is during one of the greatest Bull runs of any 30 - 45 day period of the tech / ipo / internet sectors.

Just stating fact. SI / Go2net management have stated on numerous occasions that the postings of the members ARE the content. It does not bode well for a web site to reduce its content...does it?????

I do not think there is much of a seasonal ( summer )slowdown to refer to in this instance. Is SI doing all it can to keep up with and dominate this category? We all know that competition is inevitable and that losing a market lead can be hard to get back. Here is to SI / Go2net making sure that their past successes do not blind them to future challengers.

Best to All!
