The idea is not to overallocate so that you are not forced to cover. I guess half the brokers would let it ride back down if it looks like that is the case, the other half would do a forced cover. Personally, I like to do my own covers. 1. Don't let your account get in that bad a situation by not betting the farm on one stock. 2. Work with brokers where you have some relationship with them so that they will give you some leeway. Personally, after this short I think I will continue to stick with the allocation method. And layoff fat shorts during the holidays.:)
