By the way... I AM a Barrick sharehlder. And really I believe that for Barrick shareholders there is nothing wrong with their hedging program. I firmly believe in the old adage "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em", and that is what the industry has done. Nevertheless, I deplore the UN-transparency of hedging, AND I deplore what hedging by the industry has done to the price of gold.

It is a commonly accepted fact that large speculators follow the lead of the producers. Do you think that hedge funds would have shorted gold were it not for the shorting that was being doe by.. (or rather, FOR..) the producers ?
