Trust me, 25K is not "small beans" especially for a college student.

One of the statistics I learned from the insurance industry thirty years ago was that, at that time, the average working male had only $500 liquid assets at age 60. Remember that 30 years ago not nearly so many women were working, making that data even more significant because it reflected total household savings, not just the man's savings.

Does anyone know what the current relevant statistic is? I suspect that, indeed, that $25,000 is no small amount of money in any context.
