To erase the symbols:

Click on View, then Preferences, then the tab labeled "workspaces", change the value in the box to zero, then click OK. This will erase the symbols in the pull down list.

Then, go through the previous clickstream again, this time setting the value in the "workspaces" preference area to whatever number you wish. I use 30.
