Money Talk: What has happened to Novell? Ever since the stock hit $31+, it has tumbled to the $16 range until this pass week? Why the selloff?

Harmon: Novell {NOVL} has been hurt by Windows 2000 stirrings and the slew of executives that have bailed ship. It may be good for the firm to lose the execs, however, to get fresh faces. I would like to see CEO Eric Schmidt turn up the volume on Novell's Internet initiatives. Part of the holdback is Novell trades on a price-to-earnings basis and looks frothy at more than 40x. Novell needs to start buying into the Web in a big way to show its growth side. Growth fuels value.
