That 500MM sounds like he was referring to the line of credit
Dell set up with a bank long time ago for the same amount.
Since Dell did not need the money, I pictured the loan
as a way to establish a working relationship with the bank,
(kind of like getting your first credit card), and a convenient
way to pay for the expansions (as in China) in a more
conventional manner than trying to write company checks in Austin made out to Mr. #!:{}""!).

I lost my patience with the MB thread. There is little discussion of the facts and a lot of wild claims that even companies like DELL are cooking their books. It is shoot first and ask questions later over there.

MB sets the tone of the thread.
