OT RE: your comments on optics Hi Jack, thanks for your comments on optics. About your other post on optics for the "last mile" - isn't optical transmission at the mercy of birds, trees, and whatever else gets in the way, when it comes to the "last mile" to the home? And fiber wired to each home is quite expensive - the cost of the gear is probably only 5-15% of the story - most of the costs probably involve paying for people to install this. Edit: I just saw Jeff's post # 93124 RE: "fog." So, my post (above) is redundant. Looks like optics won't be going to the home. RE: About LU vs Cisco... Brilliant technology is only 1/3 of the equation. Sales and Marketing are very important too. Regards, Amy J
