Jill, << reflexively sexist .... only mostly-male clubhouse on SI >> I'm not generally aware of the demographics of the threads I bookmark but from what I've observed this is not the "only mostly-male" thread on SI. "Clubhouses" I'm not into. There are, however, several threads I participate in where women are amongst the most astute posters on the topic that the thread is devoted too. << So "senior" posters who for instance are involved in options, non-gorilla stocks, or any investing strategies that diverge from this, rarely discuss it, as if it's forbidden fruit. That's silly >> Silly? Somewhat OT, on this thread, however, and more appropriately discussed by these posters on other threads. << Other threads ... tolerate more diverse approaches--witness the in-depth discussion of options on the Qualcomm thread recently >> ... which is why Ramsey created the S&P 500 thread. The "Coming of Range" thread you refer to is a marvelous and very popular thread. It has never been long on tolerance for "more diverse approaches", however. To the contrary it has blatantly been just the opposite, and prior to the Q/ERICY accord when its ranks got bloated, among the most "clubby" on SI. << old-boys clubby stuff is a fatal flaw ... waiting for the day Frank will publicly acknowledge this, perhaps apologize, and set a different agenda. >> I don't know much about what has transpired in PM (that you referred to earlier in your post as "PM fracas w/ Frank") but I don't buy this old-boys clubby stuff you think you have stumbled upon. This is not the old "Mory's", near "the place where Louie dwells" or "the dear old Temple Bar we love so well". Frank has never intended, so far as I can determine, to limit participation to "Gentlemen, songsters, off on a spree" and it is not a club, it is message thread with a stated topic. I am most hopeful that a "different agenda" will NOT be set here by the thread founder. I do encourage any and all to post and contribute to the discussion at hand. - Eric -
