Donna, I read Eric's response to Jill's post twice. I remain open-minded to the possibility that I could be wrong, but I saw his post as being point-by-point disagreement, not dismissal. For me there is a huge difference between disagreement and dismissal. Moreover, his post ended with, "I do encourage any and all to post and contribute to the discussion at hand." If that kind of disagreement makes people feel uncomfortable with getting involved, I respect their right not to get involved. But I also think people who can't handle civil disagreement probably shouldn't get involved in a forum that ostensibly if not actually promotes differing views coming from differing perspectives literally from around the globe. Since you used Eric's post as an example of messages that creates an inhospitable environment, I have to mention that I would use it as an example of a post that creates an environment of hospitable disagreement. As is the case regarding my disagreement with you, disagreement is always welcome here. I'd go so far as to say that it's cherished. --Mike Buckley
