RE: Holiday Shopping at Stores, Online

What is funny to me...

the term "when the fish are biting, feed the fish" sure applies to the internet.

These online stores are falling all over themselves to offer enticements to get you to shop there. If you are handy with HTML, you can actually build your own online stores with all the associates programs out there. You can use free websites like we offer at Suite101.com to do it (or many other websites have this now but we don't have advertising so it makes it nicer to use). You then get a 5% commission on purchases made in the store (up to $5 per item). Of course, you can then do your own holiday shopping in the store you created and who cares if you don't get other customers! Here is an example of one I made in a few hours time pw2.netcom.com I am going to see how much of my holiday shopping I can do there just for kicks.

It is really quite a riot to me. All these sales numbers are so distorted as they are still selling at a loss (fish are biting) so I go shopping (feed the fish). Makes me wonder how many others will do the same and slow their purchases once the good deals end?

Long term, I KNOW that the internet will be great for the consumer, but I sure don't trust the numbers being put out today to make a meaningful investment decision. Funny part is, tons of people are doing just this. Comparing clicks and traffic and stickyness and then assigning relative valuations on it!

Oh well, got my limit today! How has the fishing been for you? 8)
