Yes.

Seems to me that the system here does not pressurize the kids very much.

I remember having to study latin and french from age 11 as well as english,math,physics,chemistry,biology.

However I am somewhat ambivalent as I have seen young kids have miserable lives due to too much pressure at school and home. Many kids fail under the too much pressure approach. And this should be the best time of their lives.

However the no-pressure approach also fails many kids as well. In lots of homes the parents don't care and kids are too immature to care and so fall behind.

Both systems have failings and strengths IMHO.
