Charles-- perhaps you were not there in any possible need to know basis or probably not there at all. <<"Perhaps you'll allow me to substitute the illegal bombing of Cambodian..">> Whatever the reason you are now talking about something you know only what was in the newspapers. Some where actually THERE before these places were IN the newspapers... Why not just talk about Kissinger and Nixon leaving many POWs behind instead. That subject you can research and get facts. No one will ever find the facts on some subjects concerning that war...

OT - Let's agree to disagree and get back to discussing how to play this stock for personal profit.
As far as I'm concerned there is very little difference between the Republican socialists and the Democrat socialists. Richard Nixon had national health care on the agenda for his second term. Jimmy Carter blamed us for moral decay leading to stagflation. George Bush violated his no new taxes promise, and Bill Clinton lies like a rug. Politicians are politicians. They won't be satisfied until they control every breath of our lives. There may be some policy differences but the over-riding goal of people that seek power is to control it all. They won't be satisfied until the effective tax rate is 110% and we can only do what they tell us to do, when they tell us to do it. They will then expect us to praise them for whatever meager handout they deign to allow us. As far as one politician or the other claiming credit for the good economy, it's BS. Reagan ran up the national debt on military expenditures (and BS'd about space-based missle defense) because he figured the Soviets would go bankrupt before we would (and he was right). This allowed whatever politicians were in office to cut back on the vast military expenditures and use the money for something else. The economy tends to be cyclical between excesses. Fortunately, the founding fathers were wise. The branches of government are divided between the elephants and the donkeys and the present administration and congress have been somewhat stalemated from squandering our money on a lot of programs of questionable value. This has had a stabilizing effect on the national debt and the economy, which is good for business. Unfortunately, the best slogan to try to convince people to vote for an alternate political party is tainted by the racist policy planks of the politician that used it ("There isn't a dime's worth of difference between the Republicans and the Democrats"). I vote in every election. I wouldn't vote for either of these parties (also wouldn't vote for any racist, fascist, socialist, or communist politicians). I would encourage all of you to vote Libertarian. The simple summation of the Libertarian philosophy is live and let live. A true libertarian doesn't meddle with peoples social values and strives to limit the government to providing essential services that only government can provide (e.g. national defense, police, firemen, roads, dams, bridges, etc.). Some people view this as socially liberal and economically conservative. But in my opinion, a true libertarian is laissez-faire on social and economic issues and believes in minimizing the power of government and returning power to the people. Let's agree to disagree and get back to discussing how to play this stock.
