Christmas at our house centers around three main traditions. The first is the trimming of the Christmas Tree! This is always a big deal at our house. It is an all day affair. I am responsible for the lights. Then everyone else jumps in for the decorating of the tree. Last year my daughter decided she wanted her own tree this year and bought herself and artificial tree and all the trimmings with her own money at a post Christmas sell. She put her tree up earlier today. She is really proud of her tree. We will probably put up the family tree next weekend. The second part of our tradition is that our two kids each receive an Advent Calendar from their grandmother each year that they open and read each day leading up to Christmas. The third part of our tradition is that no matter where we travel for Christmas we are always home on Christmas Eve. We sleep late Christmas morning. Then we get up and open the gifts under the tree. We spend the entire day just relaxing and letting the kids enjoy themselves. We try to do very little cooking or anything else for that matter on Christmas Day.
