MichaelM: " GO SANTA!!". I am with you. We need to remember
that ASND was as low as ~$23.5 ( as I remember it ) justÿ
one year before LU bought it forÿ ?$90.ÿ
We need to remember that it would be LU to know bestÿ
where Carrier needs will be in 10 years. And so it was LU, who based onÿ
that knowledge and on their knowledge of Telecom that ended up offeringÿ
an astronomical amount for ASND even though very few saw that
when ASND was a languishing at $23.5.
Why should NN be any different? OK, NN is poorly managed.
I can understand that: when an EEng. ( TM ), tries to be an MBAÿ
you are going to have problems. But that does not minimize the fact that TM
was putting large amount of resources in R&D in the
last 4 years ( ~ 10% of income ), and put 6000 engineers to work on ATMs.
To think ( The Ottawa Citizen today ) that anybody can now go out and hireÿ
6000 engineers in a tight labor market and pop out an ATM in the nextÿ
12 - 18 months is ludricous,

TA

Michael: In a usual take over, the Arbitrageurs close to the Inside track begin accumulating. By the time the announcement is made they have usually accumulated near 25%. Once the announcement is made they increase the accumulation to 45% of the stock. The balance is mopped up when the two Boards ratify the take over.

Arbitrageurs are action oriented. They do not like holding Stock in limbo for long periods. It will be interesting to know what is MSDW's latest recommendation to its clients w.r.t NN.

5. Actual value of any deal will cause Rob Mac to use the word "insane" when offering
his view.<i/>

the guy is third rate analyst who works for third rate firm.
He is entirely ignoring the fact that NN is front runner in hot LMDS market with 50% wins around the glob.
Recently another firmF&S: biz.yahoo.com
recognized NN position LMDS space.
