Mike: It was very slow going through "Tech Stock". Is is
very smooth through "Silicon Investor".

I think it's a way to make us use the new format.

Am I seeing too many conspiracies??

Best wishes,

Bob

Michael,
I thought you might enjoy this exchange with my son, who called me a few weeks ago and told me to buy RHAT. WHen I saw the price, I laughed. Of course it's gone up 103% and I am taking a lot of grief about it.
I tried to explain earnings, and fundamentals, and he actually wrote back and used the words New Paradigm! Apparently a lot of the students at Rice invest and even day trade between classes, so CW has opened an account at Waterhouse, and is going to start.
Here is his explanation of Redhat, and I guess, his investing "strategy".
"It's all about buzzwords, and right now LINUX is really hot. So you just find the company with the right buzzwords and the in technology, and they're going to soar. Then you get out when it stops being about the tech. and ordinary people are just trying to make money."
THe horrible thing is that he's been right for a couple of years now, and I'd be very very wealthy had I listened to him.
But it sure scares the heck out of me.

Mike, Do you have a feel for what is going on in currency markets at present? The yen is at 102 and the Euro hovers near parity. Kind of confusing. Is it just some aberrant Y2K flow of funds?

In the longer term I think the dollar is in trouble. There are a lot of dollars floating around the world and if the Euro can ever mature to a reserve status, that seems to me to mean less demand for dollars and a lot of them coming home to roost. With foreigners wanting to hold fewer dollars, US interest rates would have to rise to stimulate their willingness to hold dollars. But, assuming this analysis is valid, we still don't know when the turning point will be. Also, the Euro seems to be having trouble of late when only a few weeks ago it was in the $1.08 range.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

Cheers!
