But the fact is that some people trade based on what stocks are recommended on his show.

True, but most of the stocks are mid to larger caps. I remember when K-Mart was hitting the skids hard and (damn, can't remember his name) said he would be a buyer at 5 for those willing to take some risk. The stock moved up over the next two weeks or so.

Then there was the time when Sam Weinstein(sp?) was a special guest on the show. I'll never forget what he said about Cisco in Oct. or Nov. of '93,"Cisco is about to have its bones broken." Unfortunately that was when I had just started buying stocks. I had bought a small position in CSCO about a month before his comments. Damned if that stock didn't drop from 33 to the 20's and stayed until it slowly climbed back up about a year later. When I could get out with a profit, I sold. What a mistake that was!!

As a rule, of late, I've been keeping an eye on stocks where analysts will raise the consenses estimates for the next quarter, for the year, or for next year. If you find some (of course let me know) just watch to see if the stock doesn't move higher within a week. I've played a couple like that and had pretty good luck, but see for yourself and get a feel for it before automatically jumping in.

Speaking of stocks moving up on a mention, I've also noticed that some stocks (not all) will move up the day of or following days after being mentioned by Individual Investor (via Yahoo) on their Stock of the Day section. ZRAN was mentioned last week and it moved the stock 4+ that day.

Later.....
