HP And Amazon.com Strike Web
Infrastructure, Consumer Retail Pact

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 30, 1999--
Hewlett-Packard Company and Amazon.com today announced a broad
agreement whereby Amazon.com will use HP systems in its Web
infrastructure as well as offer a broad selection of HP products to
Amazon.com's customers. Amazon.com has selected HP as its technology
partner for providing the next generation, highly available Web
infrastructure required to power one of the world's busiest e-commerce
sites. Additionally, Amazon.com will now source products directly from
HP, thereby increasing the selection and availability of HP products
in Amazon.com's Consumer Electronics store.
"We are thrilled that Amazon.com and HP can work together on so
many fronts," said Joe Galli, Amazon.com's president and COO. "This is
a great thing for Amazon.com customers: On the backend, HP servers and
technological expertise will help Amazon.com build the most reliable
and secure shopping experience online. Those same customers will also
enjoy Amazon.com's direct relationship with HP because they will
receive the best selection of HP products available anywhere."
"In the Internet economy, the experience you deliver online is
the ultimate determinant of a leadership brand," said Ann Livermore,
president, HP's Enterprise and Commercial Business. "In a world where
customer service is king, Amazon.com is reliant not only on being 'up
and running' all the time, but having the products people want when
they arrive to shop. HP can help Amazon.com conquer both of those
challenges. We look forward to building a sound infrastructure, and a
broad selection of HP products in Amazon.com's Consumer Electronics
store that is first in its class on the Web."
