Lots of good info lately on Yahoo..

This was posted by mikeras to a short that was waving the flag for DDR. I thought it would be good to post here.

Katze (or maybe Mr. Cat),

I don't know how fast information about technology is transferring to Germany, but here are some DDR facts FYI:

1) DDR is an old technology maxed out to limit,
2) There are no DDR computers on the market, yet
3) When they come, they will be as much expensive as current RDRAM machines,
4) But by then RDRAM machines had already lost some of the original premiums,
5) DDR will be used primary for servers with a market share of only 10-12%,
6) DDR uses command decoding to decode the command and address at the same time. Concerning DDR, data transfer is
on both the falling and rising edges of the clock. It has twice the dead clock cycle as SDRAM,
7) Rambus has separate control and address busses so it does not need to use scheme decoding,
8) Rambus will become more cost effective to use in low and high end desktop PCs as processor speeds increase.

Cat, I hope this did not go over your short head.
