An unanswered posting has a rude and thoughtless feeling about it-- Since I'm not really sure what you mean by where it is being used as a statement (nor really want to), I'll respond to the first part of the sentence. Lets turn that around for a minute. What if the post is rude and thoughtless? Should I feel obligated to respond to it? I'm pretty sure you don't mean I should. Nor will I as a rule unless I get so fed up with it that such a response is an expected reaction. I do my best to keep it between the ditches of civility most of the time, but there are times I'll make a wisecrack. However, if I get the impression one is playing games with me or "piggy-backing"; I won't play. If a person wants to play games with me, whip out the chess board and pick a color. I hold my own quite well. As far as the gift baskets go, I'm looking for those with good value to excellent quality--meats, cheeses, fruit. But something a cut above what I might expect to buy from Swiss Colony. A gift truly memorable and a pleasure to the palate for a middle income class of person(s).
