and new housing starts?

William, consumer confidence is at lofty heights, and so is consumer spending (they often don't true up). Since consumer spending = 2/3 of gdp, I doubt the economy is slowing. All those people who bought houses this past summer and fall have been out buying new furniture and appliances, and the rest of the people are buying other stuff with their credit cards. And of course we keep hearing that car sales are at a peak, then later we find out they weren't.

the 5.5 gdp # will likely be revised downward, but it is still suprisingly big. REALLLLLLLY BIG !!
