Tekboy,

<< The Whiffs sing it with "damned," not "doomed." >>

You know, you are absolutely correct. That's certainly the way James Jones quoted it when he borrowed four of the words for the title of his first and best novel.

When Donna astounded me on Sunday morning with her now famous line "this thread has become like a club of the good old boys", Mory's immediately came to mind. When I left New Haven in 1972 the Boomer Yankee "womanists" as Jill refers to them were trying to gain entry and civilize the place that stood for everything they considered to be chauvanistic. I'm sure they succeeded.

Do you have any idea if Mory's survived the effort (albeit in coed fashion) and if so whether it retained its character as Locke Obers in Boston was able to do when it was "integrated".

Same as week after Turkey Day last year for the big Naz hitters. A huge up day, followed by a big but not so huge down day, but spiraling upward with a little drop the closing week of the year and a great start to January. I'll take that again anytime.

You are a trip! LOL!

Bah! Bah! Bah!

... he sang curmudgeonly.
