Rambi,

Cool! Rice had a fine, fine CS department a decade back when I was looking around for Grad schools and almost accepted an offer there, though finally I settled down for the North East. I believe it still does.

Has your son been hacking Open Source s/w a bit? When I was a student, that was almost considered to be a pre-req before anyone would accept you as a serious hacker. :-) I have dutifully done my part before joining the industry ...

In any case, undergrads often know more about emerging technologies that many industry pundits! :-) If I were you, I would pay to listen to your son when it comes to keeping up to date with technology.

No comments about the investing front, though. I am a firm believer in investing in indexes only.

-BGR.

Rambi, with every new era there is an open ended fantasy. In this case it is the net. I would be interested in hearing more about what your son says about Linux and related companies - I don't know any users. I would not be surprised if your son continues to make big gains in the hot picks but someday these picks will decline precipitously so I would urge him to take some profits and not worry about the last dollar . The conditions ( weakness) in the US dollar and credit markets may offer a good leading indictor for the bursting of the bubble . Mike
