Jeff, it seems very few people still believe in the accuracy of the government's reports...unless it suits them of course<ggg>.

i find it interesting that issues like hedonic pricing and the government's other statistical shenanigans are not subject to more mainstream debate.
sometimes i think a whole generation has simply been brainwashed...

With respect to employment, it almost doesn't matter. Everyone can see the help wanted signs everywhere. If the employment growth is low, then people will attribute it to lack of available candidates. If growth is high, then it is too strong.
