A fellow who used to work here had his own gambit for sidestepping jury duty. He would be asked how he felt about the death penalty.
"All for it, Your Honor".
Why?
"Well, it's the only foolproof way I know to cut down on repeat offenses."

Thanks.

Yes, the house is quiet again. We got to bed at our usual 9:30 instead of midnight. It's nice to get some sleep again, but I do wish the vacation were a bit longer. I know of some colleges which take the whole week off, which is nice.

Looking forward eagerly to Christmas. Gadzooks, my Christmas shopping is almost done! (Let's not mention that since the kids mostly want clothes nowadays, shopping for them has shifted to my wife, whereas in the old days when they wanted toys, and computer software, and sports stuff, I was in charge. And of course we both buy endless numbers of books for them which either they want or we think they should want. Split about equally between the two.)

I made a major error. I taught my wife how to use Amazon. When she had to go to the bookstore, or ask me to order books for her, there was some semblance of control. Now, when we have 1 click set up, so all she has to do is enter the name of the author or book and click, it's Katy Bar the Door!

Thank god for an up market.
