Wednesday November 24 12:42 AM ET News Corp.'s NDS Debut Meets Interest on Wall St. NEW YORK (Reuters) - Rupert Murdoch's golden touch contributed to the performance of News Corp. Ltd.'s (NCP.AX) set-top box unit NDS Group Plc. (NasdaqSC:NNDS - news), whose American Depositary Receipts, or ADRs, climbed Tuesday after its ADR offering raised $180 million. ``Rupert's name is the key here,' said one ADR trader, who noted that there were a lot of IPOs making their debuts this afternoon and said that posting gains amid all the noise was noteworthy. NDS Group's ADRs closed up 8 at 28 on the Nasdaq after the company had 9 million ADRs priced at $20, the top of its upwardly revised expected price range. Each ADS represents one ordinary A share. NDS offers systems to digital pay-television broadcasters that scramble signals to stop unauthorized access. It also provides broadcast control software and services to pay-television and data broadcasters. Competitors include Canal Plus Tech SA (CNLP.PA), General Instrument Corp.(NYSE:GIC - news) and MIH Ltd.'s (NasdaqNM:MIHL - news) Irdeto BV. In the area of interactive, set-top box based storage services, it also competes with companies like TiVo Inc. (NasdaqNM:TIVO - news).
