Claude, I will admit again that it took awhile for the ramifications of what they have just announced to sink in. There is a lot to digest. I also have to remember that when you take a hard objective look at who this company was yesterday - before the announcement, then it would be accurate to say that someone could have described this company as just a small Calgary based company who had developed a great way to get information from the WEB. They had some good partners and the target market potential was huge. However, they suffered from the same problems as many small firms have. If they only could get their stuff finished in time, and if they could get some of the big players to take them seriously, then boy could they ever reach for the share of this big juicy pie that is so near, but yet so far. I believe that the management of the company became tired of putting up with the struggles that come from being a small player with a great idea would needs help to fully realized their dream. Given the magnitude of what they were undertaking, they really do have a relatively small development team. The fact that it was taking them longer to get their product ready must have made them feel that were running the chance of having their window of opportunity close on them. We all know that having a great product with great promise is a far cry from being able to capitalize on it. To illustrate just what is at stake here, I have included some of the stats that I included in the summary post I recently put up on the thread. As I read through these stats again, I realize now that yesterday morning I was full of hope that maybe, just maybe this company could pull it off and take a big chunk out of the pie. But now, just one day later, the hope I had has been replaced by a sense of confidence that this is now going to happen. The cost may seem high now, but I bet it will be one of the best investments this company will have ever made. NSI has just received large infusion of cash to help it accelerate their new business opportunity plans. They now have the software development support they need to continue to innovate, and then deliver the products to their customers - on time! And they now have a man of Mr. Baan's stature at the helm. This man has already built a multi billion dollar business from scratch. He knows what to do to get it done. Because of all of these reasons and more, I have stopped thinking about wouldn't it be nice if . . . Now, I have a much stronger sense of confidence about this company's future. By the way, my stress level is way down now <ggg>. The question now is just how much of these markets will this company be able to claim. I want to emphasize that given their technology, and their business model(s), they have a real shot at taking a big chunk out of each of these areas. - American businesses currently spends over $5 billion each year on contracted customer support activities. - AMR Research's Customer Relationship Management Software Report, 1998-2003 - the CRM market will grow to exceed $16.8 billion by 2003. - The European CRM market will grow to $4.3 billion in 2003 from $500 million in 1998, with a compound annual growth rate of 53 percent, exceeding the 44 percent growth expected in North America over the same time period. - According to the International Data Corporation, the amount of money that businesses around the world spend on running conventional call centers is already $23 billion and is expected to rise to $56 billion by 2003. - Forrester (the leading US Internet analyst company) estimated earlier this year that the on-line business intelligence market will be worth $11 billion within five years. - The Business to Business market has been estimated to grow to $1.3 trillion by year 2003. It took me awhile to work this through, but I will say again that I now believe that this company is a hell of a lot stronger and better positioned for growth than it was only one day ago. Crazy Canuk
