Chuzzlewit,

Very nice (and amusing) analysis. To me, it has been one of the most amazing stocks in history. So what is the long-term story? That AMZN will grow into its valuation? How does an internet retailer maintain its customer base when it is just as easy to surf elsewhere? In time, good web site user interfaces will be everywhere. Many successful companies will provide programming services for a fee.

It seems like even those who cannot read a 10-Q or even spell it (!) could tell in their gut that there is a problem with Amazon. The scarier issue for those who choose stocks based on at least a nod to fundamentals is what is happening to some very solid companies like CSCO and SUNW. No, their stocks are doing very well. It's just that they are doing too well. I am reluctant to sell solid stocks, even when they go higher than I think is rational. This puts me in the interesting position of being a fundamentalist with a numeric bent and a relatively conservative investor who is skating on thin ice and knows it.

Thank you for the informative and interesting post.
