With the tax season selling and no other news, we may see some downside and even sideways movement till the New Year. Then if the earnings are good in January and show promise, it will go over $ 30!
Today but for ISSI, my portfolio of techs. would have done lot worse! I foresee at least five sessions like this before year end!

I didn't hear it, but I gather it was another bit of silliness. It's true that using XML does not represent a competitive advantage for Windchill; it's a necessity for the product's very identity by definition.

I agree with Joel that the stock is going to reflect the tugs of the potential of Windchill vs. the issues of back-end loading in the current quarter as the company makes the transition. It's a bumpy ride (quoting that great line spoken by Bette Davis) and not for the faint of heart. The upgrades and stock price tun-up were kind of precautionary, you know? No one wanted to get caught short (forgive the pun) in case the company said something really new and super at the meeting.

Bob, what do you know about XML? From the CNBS blurb, it sounded like intelligent search technology. I'm curious not only because of PMTC, but also Interleaf, a company I followed several years ago, but never bought. One reason I didn't was that they shared the same building in Waltham with PMTC, and I thought they might find a lot of their best employees moving down the hall to what was then a premier company. Now LEAF has gone from 1 to 50 this year. I thought it was because of XML, but if everyone has it, as you say, that's hardly the reason (unless they own some proprietary rights).
