El,..

Mr. Fun writes in good English and he has a hard time
convincing you of his points about PSTN stuff. He states the facts -not because he likes what he sees, just because they happen to be as
they are.

True, Mr Fun is very articulate and has well thought out positions. His comments about the continued expenditures of circuit switches are not fact however...they are assumptions...assumptions that I believe will be proven wrong.

Telcos had a "perfect" network to carry voice until Cisco started saying that "perfection" came at a cost. Cisco attacked the old world
a.k.a PSTN. PSTN provides a single service: voice.

Really. That will come as a big surprise and disappointment to everyone that's dialed into the net right now. It's pretty well documented that today's circuit switch networks don't scale to meet the network persistence demands of dial in users.

Since all wireless solutions vendors are also vendors of PSTN stuff, wouldn't ocurr to you that it is in their interest to leverage their wireless platforms against an intruder such as CSCO?

Are you aware of the CSCO/MOT partnership? Are you aware of what the wireless offerings are competing with? The promise of multiservice to the home and business is the target. I believe CSCO has as good a chance as traditional vendors in supplying this build out. In some cases better...they've been doing it longer and have advanced the in the packet world. Circuit switched thinking and technologies don't port well to an open environment. The traditional environments were locked since the API's between the platform and the applications were kept proprietary...locking SP's into specific vendors. Then the sp's got charged out the wazzou for support and application development. The new model will open these API's allowing any ISV to write new applications. The environment will also be less costly to support... You should educate yourself with the advantages of these new network architectures. SP's will not choose a circuit switched vendor just because they're there..... I should clarify ... they won't all the time... they will sometimes. CSCO however will get fair share of wins and that El...is ALL NEW business to CSCO. The traditional vendors in the meantime will work simply to keep from losing business. Who's the winner?

Think about it.... You'll get it.
