Consumer Confidence Surges in Nov.

"..NEW YORK - Americans' confidence in the economy surged in
November, boding well for retailers during the holiday shopping season.

Thanks to a sharp rebound on Wall Street, low unemployment rates and
growth in personal income, consumers seem more certain that good
economic times won't come screeching to a halt anytime soon.

The big rise in confidence in November, reported Tuesday by the
Conference Board, ended a string of four straight months of decline in the
index measuring consumers' willingness to spend.

'Consumers got over being pessimistic earlier in the fall and are feeling
better now, particularly about the future,' said Gary Thayer, chief
economist at A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc. in St. Louis..."
