I recently reported that some key people who work in computers and communications have made it clear to me that the odds of any major disruption resulting from y2k are minimal. They did not discount some disruptions, but they stressed that the impact would not have dramatic implications for the economy.
There has been a great deal of testing by companies, many who conducted joint exercises and the results have been better than anticipated. Apparently, Yardeni is getting similar feedback.
Should this scenario turn out to be true, I would expect further weakness in the gold market.
