pumping Dell service. Also said Dell stock was trading at a discount to their growth rate.
Advised that 2000 was going to be a great year for Dell.<<<

NW-- too bad there is no one at cpq that feels as strongly about it that they could talk in that manner,,, makes the mkt wonder if they really do know something after listening to Mikey..... but Mikey was selling $$$ millions worth of shares too as the price of DELL rose...

Mikey may have been pumping his new emachine, but it's no bargain. In fact, I priced out a similarly equipped Dell Dimension and it came out priced around 1600 bucks vs the emachine at around 1800 bucks. Throw in the 3 year warranty on the Dimension vs the 1 year on the emachine and it does not look like a deal to me.

Regards,
John

PS - Not to mention the fact that a similarly equipped Ipaq (although a Win2000 machine), sells for 1462, (1562 if you include the price of the printer that Dell throws in) - a couple hundred less than the Dell box...

NW -
I think it is amazing that MSD is out pumping his stock price with comments like this. Since he is not in a position to control stock price directly, it seems to me that this just creates exposure... what if some industry shift or macro event drives the segment down, taking DELL with it, and some bunch of investors decide to do a class action lawsuit - after all, the CEO said it was a great deal...

What benefit does MSD see to DELL from this kind of activity? looks pretty self-serving to me.
