Gottfried -

I'm glad PCWorld rates the ZipCD among the top 5 CD-RW drives. You mentioned that the HP drive is almost twice the price. To be fair, the HP is also writes at 8x, as compared to the ZipCD at 4x.

The ZipCD is priced competitively with other 4x drives, and does present a good value, in my opinion, considering the total package.

I have recently bought a CD-RW drive myself. Since I wanted an external SCSI model, to share between PCs and Macs in my home, the ZipCD was not in the running. I settled on a Plextor 8x drive. Fast, with a good software bundle.

Both my wife and I will continue to use our Zip and Jaz drives, but I do see the CD-RW taking their place for some applications. Of course the CD-RW drive can do things the Zip and Jaz can't, but the reverse is also true.

BTW, I'm also glad to see that Iomega is offering unlimited free phone support for the ZipCD. Perhaps they have decided it's more expensive in the long run to try to charge for support.
