The wild dash to increase CPU and memory speeds appears to have caused a number of problems with PC platforms. Delays in CuMine shipments with a lengthy list of errata in those shipped. Rumors of Dell putting CuMine PC's on hold. Reports that Intel admits new errata that results in tighter screening of product. New stepping's to resolve the problems. Multiple delays of rambus product and mobo's. Repeated announcements of Rambus systems that are retracted or rescheduled for future ship dates. Technical specifications for mobo's and RIMM modules that are foreign to most manufacturers. Timing measured in picoseconds. Unforgiving Strip-line designs for both mobo and module makers. The potential of latent defects in systems delivered, with questions of quality and reliability in the mind of consumers. All seemingly the result of the mad dash to market one-up products.
Is this what the consumer really wants or needs?
