National Post says Red Sea abandons well drill

The National Post reports in its Thursday edition that Red Sea Oil Corp., part of
the Lundin family's web of connected companies, has abandoned an unsuccessful
well drill in Libya. The Vancouver-based company, controlled by financier Alfred
Lundin and his sons, Ian Lundin and Lukas Lundin, said it will gather additional
seismic data on the African concession to determine drilling plans. Lukas Lundin,
who lives in Vancouver, is president of Red Sea. The family has become rich and
famous for its willingness to invest early in political hot spots. Red Sea has a field
in Libya scheduled to begin production in 2001 and Lundin Oil AB, another family
holding, has a major stake in a large property in Sudan.
