To the thread:

It's wet blanket time, folks.

This thread has always been one I've been somewhat proud of because things can get a little wild here without getting so out of hand that we have to intervene. Fights have been short-lived enough and the thread as a whole has typically been self-correcting. It usually exemplifies the "let your hair down" tone of the header.

However, things have gotten out of hand lately, forcing us to step in. It looked like yesterday's constant stream of personal attacks had subsided last night, and I was hopeful that today would be better.

It's starting out worse.

Everyone, please tone it down several notches. Bury the hatchets without burying them in each other; shake hands, go to your corners and don't come out fighting.

This thread is not an appropriate venue for the fighting that occurred here yesterday. No thread is. This should be occurring privately if at all. It isn't fair to force the many readers of this thread to have to witness every punch that's thrown in a fight most of them would just as soon not watch.

If anyone wants to discuss this situation with me, please do so via PM, not via public message. Understand, though, that I don't consider it important just who started what (a lot of this seems to be based on very old grudges), or any rationale for yesterday's conduct.

What is important is that the fighting stop immediately and that thread not continue to be consumed by nothing more than personal attacks.

Regards,
