Okay, so you are saying that the people who are in charge are responsible for what happens. And I thought that you were trying to say that the baby boomers accomplished something. You see, the War generation was in power when the accomplishments of the 50's and 60's took place. Can you tell me what year Dr. King was born in? By your logic, everything good that has occurred since 1954 is due to the baby boomers. The civil rights and bra burning in the 60's and the exceptional economy and low crime rate of today are because of dope smoking college burnouts. However, to quote you, << Are they actually taking credit for everything good that occurred while they were alive just because they were alive?>> Sure as hell looks like you are?!? I've had this argument before, and the liberal response invariably is "But the boomers were involved in civil protests and actively lobbying the War legislators." This means, "Because it was not possible for these legislators to think for themselves and make decisions, they simply caved into our demands and did exactly as we wanted them too." By this idea, you would be stating that a generation can only achieve something IF they are disestablishmentarian. This is simply not true. To be disestablishmentarian today, one would be against conservation, civil rights, and stock options. And for the most part, people agree with these ideas, not to mention they generally make logical sense. GenX is jaded, not idealistic and ignorant like our parents were at our age (and many still are). While our folks grew up in the era of men on the moon, equal rights for all, and free love - we grew up with the Challenger, gay rights for all, and AIDS. Instead of Captain America and Superman in comic books, we had the Punisher and Spawn. We learned in school that Abe Lincoln didn't really want to abolish slavery, and that Columbus was a mass murderer for bringing small pox to America. All brought to our impressionable minds by your liberal public schools. So you are right, we don't waste our time trying to persuade our arrogant and ignorant parents to vote our ideas with rallies or sit ins. Instead, we have a different way of doing things. We get educated, work hard, and try to raise our families to be better than ourselves - just like your parents did. We bring God back by going to church and setting an example. We threw away your Dr. Spock, and raise our kids with Dr. Seuss and common sense. We reduce crime by not committing any. And to be honest, if you don't want us to live this way, "So What?"
