The 2-kHz deep-UV excimer laser light source features a laser design and chamber that is expected to have a life of more than 5 billion pluses, according to Komatsu. The company claimed this life expectancy is the longest in the industry.

I love these guys. Look up the word 'prolepsis' in the dictionary and their corporate logo is the illustration next to it.

Brian,

2 comments / questions.

1. I thought Akins talked about a longer life CYMI laser in the last conference call. How's my memory, Scott???

2. Both Komatsu and Lambda Physik seem to let the Marketing folk write their press releases without any regard to the reality of the product. Reminds me of Honeywell when it was in the operating business. I once complained to our Honeywell Support people that their operating system did not perform in accordance with the documentation in its Reference Manual only to be told that the best documentation is the source code. !!!

I'll believe a Komatsu claim when they've proved it on a production fab floor.

JMHO,
Ian.
