Re: "AMD says an enhanced version of Athlon, based on a new processor core, will reach the 1GHz level by the second part of next year."

How many "parts" does a year have? (I know... parts is parts...)

RE <<<For its part, AMD is playing it coy. A spokesman said it wasn't so much as a matter of introducing a 1GHz part. "It's whether there's sufficient demand that warrants a product launch," said the spokesman.>>>

Gerald,

When did 1 December, 1999 become 10 January, 2000? Actually I won't mind if I am wrong because as the article you posted points out, AMD can bring out the 1 G whenever demand warrants.....translated that means whenever intc gets all "the errati (sp?)" out of its chips.
