I think your examples do not have anything to do with what we were discussing.

You were holding Singapore up as a model of a remarkably clean, no gum-chewing city-state with an envious record of student discipline. You then stated that we were the architects of our own demise. I responded that both freedom and security have a price, and that, in return for "security" and "social harmony," Singaporeans have paid a very high price in personal and political freedoms.

I submit that, in order to accomplish the former, the government of Singapore demands the latter. They are part of the package, bp.

For example, I sincerely suggest you investigate the Singapore government's long record in coercive family planning before holding that place up as an example to us all.

Do you really think that all of those weird examples you just cited are actually condoned, or that there exists no legal remedy for such strange behavior in the United States?
