Microsoft Hebrew portal to debut on Dec 1 TEL AVIV, Oct 6 (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp and Israeli Internet service provider Internet Gold(NasdaqNM:IGLD - news) on Wednesday said their joint Hebrew-language portal would debut on December 1. The portal, a gateway to the Internet, will be a Hebrew version of Microsoft's MSN portal. ''The idea is to make everything in MSN Israel just like MSN,'' Internet Gold Chief Executive officer Eli Holtzman told a news conference. Internet Gold will control 50.1 percent of the joint venture and Microsoft the other 49.9 percent. In the first two years the companies expect to invest $7 million. ''We will invest as much as needed,'' Holtzman added. He said it was possible that other partners would join in the Hebrew portal in the future. Microsoft will provide the technology, international content and marketing for the project while Internet Gold will provide business development and technical support and run the system, said Microsoft Israel General Manager Arie Scop. He said the U.S. company chose Internet Gold as its partner due to the fact that it has more than 40 percent of the Israeli Internet user market. Holtzman said more than 162,000 users in Israel enter the Internet through Internet Gold. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ More Quotes and News: * Internet Gold-Golden Lines Ltd (NasdaqNM:IGLD - news) * Microsoft Corp (NasdaqNM:MSFT - news) Related News Categories: US Market News ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Help ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Copyright 1994-1999 Yahoo!
