I am fairly confident that the Airtouch system will work reliably and quickly wherever I can get a digital signal.

FWIW, I have had a similar experience using my Thinphone as a modem connected to my Powerbook. Connection was extremely reliable and simple. The only drawback is the my PB uses a USB connector and I had to go buy an adapter. Very expensive.

I used it to connect to the Internet while sitting in Starbucks where I was attending our investment club meeting. One of our members was doing an AOL IM session with me from across the country. Everyone was very impressed. Wait until we start seeing CDMA asics built right onto the motherboard. Just turn your computer on and it is connected, whenever and wherever you want.

Bux,all: Apparently you folks got a pass from the Evil Thread-meister to relax the NO CHEERLEADING rule [or maybe it's O.K. for Qualcomm products/services, but a virtual death warrant for the stock?], so what the hay . . .
Just returned from Gotham where I investigated reports of faulty Sprint PCS service in dimly lit bars, lounges, clubs, and other places of Generation X/Y worship. Happy to report: IT AIN'T TRUE. I worked my elbow off grimly determined to cover the gamut from Uptown to Wall Street, and discovered (scant hours before liver failure) that the problem was with offspring's handset. A quick visit to the Sprint PCS store (42 Broadway), two thin phones off the shelf, and we were in business.
Terrific phones, great service throughout Manhattan: not one dropped call even deep inside the bowels of the New York Stock Exchange--very impressive. Actually FWIW, the cellular coverage in NY City beats the hell out of San Francisco. From the bar stool front, Surfer Mike

Bux -

My wife just signed up for the PCS wireless web / yahoo service.

The easy part was to agree to pay Sprint - the difficult part was to find anyone at Sprint who kenw what to do with Yahoo to make it work.

I'll keep trying with Yahoo but so far I'm not getting very far!

Has anyone here actually got it working and if so give me a clue please.

Best regards,

L
