Dear Twister: Yes, but the problem is MSFT also outperforms SUNW in the BIG ONE. Troube with the justice Department. Until that matter is settled it outweighs everything else IMHO. JDN

Hi Twister,
Haven't engaged you in debate for a couple of years. For once I will agree - SUN is overvalued given history, financials, etc. However, it has been that way for more than a year now. CSCO and LU are other examples which have always been overvalued given traditional valuation measures (which I respect and believe in). The dot.com strategy has caused investors (even smart ones) to value SUN more and more like an Internet company than a hardware company. If you think about it the PE is roughly the same as DELL, but SUN has substantially better prospects.

MSFT today is significantly undervalued (I didn't think I would say this) given its past (esp if you look at its PE after taking into income it has generated but not recognized). The stock has been virtually flat since Oct during the time the NASD is up 50%. Given these extenuating circumstances I would make too much of the valuation gap between SUN and MSFT.

Regards

Alok
