I didn't used to, but I'm changing my mind. Because like most people I looked at quotas in the past as a way to let underqualified people into certain programs etc. at the expense of those that really deserved to be there.

But now, with this situation at Lowell in SF, I am changing my tune, but I'm not completely sure how to address it. I don't think it helps the book-smart kids to send them to schools with other book-smart kids. Their race is irrelevant actually. Theres more to learning than test scores and when you have a whole group that is dominating your educational landscape and completely fizzling out in the workplace I'm not sure thats a system you want to propogate. But, I don't know what the answer is myself.
