How about the hyped Mid town Manhattan ION announcement by Cisco and hyped ATM switches wild cats, and wild rats etc. Now they are going to have a switch in Q1 2000. Total debacle. Once the high margin Router Rug is pulled under Cisco by the competition, their margins will be similar to 3Com and valuation will be like 3com.

Zoltan, an interesting excerpt from the article link posted by Ken, "while I agree that Cisco, is one of the biggest ,baddest companies out there (their sales people would sell their own mothers for a deal), I do not believe that CISCO will remain where it is. Firstly, their growth is slowing, where as Nortel's is growing. Cisco has almost 91% market share, Microsoft only has about 80% and it got into monopoly problems. Lastly, I think that the company to watch is Sun. Sun is working on networking everything and only one other company has a system in place to do that, Sony. I feel that unless Cisco team up with Sun in the near future to develop the plumbing to network everything, Cicso will slide down." this is particularly interesting given today's announcement between Sun and LU. I am sure that CSCO will have a relationship as well if it does not already. Brian
