The cops weren't being too "peaceful."

As I indicated, I am not a socialist but a social democrat. I value the Bill of Rights as a whole (and I will also defend your right to own a gun), because I don't trust the government or corporations. Ray, you really must think I'm one of these flower-tossing tree huggers. Please expand your conceptions to understand that there may be people who believe in free enterprise but also care about those left behind. That is where the WTO's agenda falls short.

Come on, JLA. What you saw on TV was the graphic images of a few vandals who grabbed the media attention from tens of thousands of peaceable demonstrators. You above anybody should know not to judge from what you see on TV. Not that I was there, but I have friends who were, and their reports are uniformly that the vast majority of the crowd was peaceable and nonviolent, and that a few assholes came in late in the day to spoil it and grab the media spotlight.

It's like saying that the postal system should be shut down as a danger to the public because a few postal workers have gone off the deep end.

You and I haven't always agreed, but I have always thought you had enough brains not to be suckered in as you seem to have been here.
