Ingram Micro Approved for ISO 9002 Certification
PR Newswire - December 01, 1999 15:57

SANTA ANA, Calif., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM), the world's largest wholesale provider of technology products and services, today announced that its U. S. operations, including the company's corporate offices in Santa Ana, Calif., and Buffalo, N.Y., have been approved for ISO 9002 certification by KPMG Quality Registrar.

"Thanks to great teamwork from our associates across the country, we have been approved for ISO 9002 certification," said Robert D. Grambo, president, Ingram Micro U.S. "This recommendation acknowledges our ongoing commitment to customer satisfaction and ensures the work we do in the future will be held to the highest standards. This competitive advantage gives our associates and business partners continued pride and confidence in Ingram Micro."

The ISO 9002 registration indicates that Ingram Micro has met a set of global quality standards devised by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Meeting the ISO standards is an important prerequisite for companies doing business internationally.

KPMG Quality Registrar, a business unit of KPMG Peat Marwick LLP serving as an ISO accreditation agency, audited and certified the processes and procedures for several of Ingram Micro's business units including customer service, returns, consolidation, operations, configuration, distribution centers, sales and purchasing.

Ingram Micro's ISO 9002 certification status remains in effect for three years and will be reviewed every six months by KPMG as part of a standard surveillance audit process. The company has designated quality managers to maintain and continually improve processes, procedures and customer satisfaction and ISO certification requirements.
