Just while waiting for my golf chauffeur to arrive, I notice that Intel and Microsoft have both scrounged their way into the world of CDMA. Intel is now a licensee! Microsoft is in with WirelessKnowledge.

They saw Qualcomm coming and must have got nervous at the concept of Qualcomm being as big as Intel, Microsoft and IBM combined.

IBM makes a few ASICs but that won't be enough for them [or Compaq, Dell and others]. They'll want licenses too. Imagine a ThinkPad without a Q phone. Unthinkable.

<<<Most carriers and people still seriously believe there is little demand for data, just because demand was hopeless all through the 1990s. That was a slow and expensive problem as well as unstable and generally no good.

Now the world is different, but people still think the old data markets apply. Well, they are going to get a BIG surprise.>>>>>>

Hello, my Kiwi friend. You are correct about the above. Just got back from a meeting where a salesman was trying to pitch us on some wares. We asked for more data and he says,"Well, I'll access the company data base with my laptop". In the 15 minutes it took to get the thing hooked between power and a phone jack I just kept thinking,"HDR". I fell asleep before he got into his network and almost missed the show!

Enjoy the summer!!!!!!

They don't understand that you can't build a bridge by counting the number of swimmers!
