Lizzie, Have you read Power of the Myth by Joseph Campbell Or Ageless Mind, Timeless Body by Deepak Chopra..M.D.??? They are both heavys..but worth the time and thought..

One book I read recently that you might like is Snow Falling on Cedars. You can get it from the library, I'm sure. It has to do with the death of a fisherman who lives on an island off the coast of Washington (state), and the trial of a Japanese man (edit: actually a man of Japanese ancestry, but a U.S. citizen, can't believe I let that one by!) whose family was interned during World War II. Very sensitive handling of some controversial topics, including the internment, and the interactions between people of European ancestry and Asian ancestry in the United States today. Not at all a "who-done-it." Lyrical, thoughtful writing.
